[...] It is also interesting to note that the same Linden Labs crew that will do nothing about fraud in SL has decided to ban “gambling” words from property descriptions. The offending word in my description was “blackjack”. Now if users actually want to host games for the sake of playing and socializing (not gambling) you can’t attract traffic. If they are going to ban games, maybe they should ban tringo, trivia and dance contest too. These icons link to social bookmarking sites where readers can share and discover new web pages.
SL with governance - or more accurately SL with political parties - would make a very nice live lab for testing out new political ideas and processes. Real life hampers change for myriad reasons, but testing out a revolutionary platform or approach to governance could serve as the impetus for actual change in the real world. If you can make money, bank, own property and engage in diplomatic activity online, you can most certainly feel out how successful your new political party might work out.
